TEN members and supporters of the New People’s Army (NPA), influenced by the government’s peace initiative, have surrendered within a 10-day period in Zamboanga Peninsula, the police said Monday, June 16, 2025.
Police Brigadier General Roel Rodolfo, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula, said they surrendered between June 3 to June 13 through the coordinated efforts of various Philippine National Police (PNP) units, in collaboration with other government agencies and local government units.
Rodolfo said the decision of the 10 NPA members and supporters was largely influenced by the peace initiative of the government and the promise of rehabilitation under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip).
Rodolfo said they will undergo a comprehensive reintegration process, which includes livelihood assistance and skills training under the E-Clip.
He said these programs were designed to provide former insurgents with viable opportunities for a peaceful and productive future.
He attributed the surrender of the 10 NPA members and supporters to strengthened community-police relations, intelligence-led operations, and effective inter-agency cooperation.
“These voluntary surrenders are powerful symbols of transformation—of individuals choosing peace over violence. We honor their courage and reaffirm our commitment to support them through reintegration programs,” he said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
