THE 101st Infantry Brigade (101Bde) conducted an information campaign in Basilan province on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the Basilan Provincial Capitol in Isabela City.
The campaign emphasized the strategic importance of the West Philippine Sea to national sovereignty and security.
This initiative aimed to deepen the awareness of key stakeholders from various local government agencies across Basilan province. Discussions covered the country’s maritime rights, the value of national unity, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) vital role in defending Philippine sovereignty.
Brigadier General Alvin Luzon, 101Bde commander, stated the military’s firm commitment to protecting the nation’s territorial integrity.
“The West Philippine Sea is not merely a geographical concern—it represents our national dignity, security, and prosperity,” Luzon said.
“Through the IEC campaign, we aim to empower our people with knowledge, foster patriotism, and encourage vigilance,” Luzon added.
This campaign is part of the AFP’s broader nationwide initiative to promote maritime security awareness and gain public support in safeguarding the country’s sovereign rights.
On April 6, the 4th Special Forces Battalion (4SFBn) conducted an awareness campaign in the West Philippine Sea under Communication Plan “Mulat.”
