THE Army's 11th Infantry Division (11ID) inaugurated on Thursday, June 5, 2025, the newly constructed Alakdan Yard, transforming the once-neglected space into a functional venue for gatherings.
Major General Leonardo Pe a, 11ID commander, led the inauguration and ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Alakdan Yard, located behind the senior officers' quarters in Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista, that houses the 11ID headquarters in Busbus village, Jolo, Sulu.
In his remarks, Pe a shared the inspiration behind the initiative, highlighting his personal commitment to cleanliness, discipline, and environmental stewardship.
Pe a described how he often inspected the less visible areas of the camp, such as drainage canals and pest-prone zones-to ensure they remained in proper condition.
"What we need is cleanliness," Pe a said during the inauguration ceremony.
"We need a clean and orderly environment so that our work can also be orderly. We never imagined that we could transform this once-neglected space into a functional venue for gatherings -- while also growing vegetables," he added.
He noted that the Alakdan Yard stands as a testament to visionary leadership, collective effort, and environmental responsibility.
He said what was once an idle and overlooked space has been revitalized into a multipurpose area that reflects the Division's core values: cleanliness, discipline, and sustainability.
During the inauguration ceremony, Command Plaques were awarded to key individuals who significantly contributed to the successful implementation of the Alakdan Yard project. (SunStar Zamboanga)
