AT LEAST 150 people have benefitted from an outreach program initiated by the 64th Infantry Battalion (64IB) in Marogong, Lanao del Sur as part of its pre-anniversary activities, the military said.
Lieutenant Colonel Abel Potutan, 64IB commander, said the outreach program was conducted in Cabasaran village, Marogong, on Wednesday, April 16, fostering a stronger bond between the military and the community.
It was held in partnership with the Rural Health Unit (RHU)-Marogong, and Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Jr. Al-Haj Memorial Hospital.
Potutan said the outreach mission provided community support, including the distribution of school supplies, free haircut services, and vital health services, which included consultations, medication, pre-natal check-ups, immunizations and dental check-ups.
He said the success of the outreach mission underscores the 64IB’s dedication to public service and the effective partnership between the military and local government units in providing essential health services to the community, fostering lasting peace, and ensuring the security and well-being of the community.
The 64IB was organized on May 1, 1987 pursuant to General Orders Number 41, dated 27 April 1987.
The unit was first based with the headquarters of the 12th Infantry Brigade (Separate) at Camp Siongco, Awang, Dinaig, Maguindanao for the purposes of training and equipping its personnel. (SunStar Zamboanga)
