

TWO people died while two others were wounded when a truck and a motorcycle collided head-on in Zamboanga City, the police said Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
One of the two fatalities was identified as Rowel Lopez Dela Peña, the motorcycle's back rider, while the other one, the driver, remain unidentified.
Wounded were Benhar Abdul Karim, 32, the truck driver, and his assistant, Al-Nasil Radjuli Mundok, 42, according to the police.
The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) said the incident happened around 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, along the bypass road in Sitio Corote, Malagutay village, Zamboanga City.
Investigation disclosed the two vehicles collided head-on when the truck encroached the other lane of the road while traveling to the west coast from the city proper.
The motorcycle was traveling to the city proper coming from the west coast at the time of the collision.
The motorcycle driver and his back rider, Dela Peña, died on the place of the incident while the truck driver and his assistant were hospitalized for treatment. (SunStar Zamboanga)
