The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Zamboanga Peninsula said in a statement Thursday, August 6, 2026, that the two birds were turned over by a concerned resident of Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur.
The DENR-Zamboanga Peninsula said Francis Jubinal of Buluron village, Midsalip, found the two birds near his residence and temporarily cared for them while waiting for assistance from the environment agency.
The Wildlife Rescue Team of the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro)-Ramon Magsaysay safely retrieved the two juvenile Brahminy Kites, which were assessed to be both in good physical condition.
“His prompt action and cooperation helped ensure the birds were safely turned over to wildlife authorities,” the DENR-Zamboanga Peninsula said in a statement.
The two birds will remain under the care of the Regional Wildlife Rescue Center until they are fit for release back to their natural habitat.
