THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has released P1 million in livelihood assistance to two associations in Zamboanga City.
The DSWD announced on Saturday, April 12, 2025, that the livelihood assistance was provided through the agency’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).
The DSWD said the recipients of the assistance are the SLP Associations (SLPAs) of Mampang and Limpapa villages, Zamboanga City.
The Mampang SLPA received their livelihood assistance on Thursday, April 10, while the Limpapa SLPA received theirs on Friday, April 11.
“With a total amount of P1,000,000, the SLPAs can begin their microenterprise journey,” the DSWD Regional Field Office-9 said in a statement.
The Mampang SLPA is engaged in Fish Cage Culture, while the Limpapa SLPA is involved in Briquette Charcoal Production.
The DSWD added that the two SLPAs chose their enterprises based on the needs of their communities, utilizing waste and recyclable materials as key components in their production.
The SLP is a community-based initiative by the DSWD aimed at improving the socio-economic status of poor, vulnerable, and marginalized households. (SunStar Zamboanga)
