TWO feuding clans in Carmen, North Cotabato, have resolved their conflict through the mediation of the military, police, and local government officials.
The 4th Civil Relations Group (4CRG) reported that the Konti and Sabuo families of Macabenban village, Carmen, signed a peace pact on Monday, May 19, 2025.
Brigadier General Ricky Bunayog, commander of the 602nd Infantry Brigade, and Major James Carl Teaño, commander of the 2nd Civil-Military Operations company, witnessed the agreement.
Carmen Mayor Rogelio Taliño, who facilitated the discussions, also attended the signing.
The 4CRG said Bunayog stressed the significance of understanding and forgiveness for peace and the well-being of everyone.
"This agreement is proof that effective peace begins in our hearts and homes. We in the 602nd Brigade will continue to promote initiatives that will unite our communities so that we can finally achieve the long-desired order in our homeland," Bunayog said.
"The unity shown by the Konti and Sabuo families is a model for others who are in conflict. Your sincerity in forgiving and reuniting is truly commendable," Bunayog added.
The peace pact signing occurred at the covered court of Macabenban village, Carmen, North Cotabato attended by Police Lieutenant Colonel Nestor Maderse Jr., Carmen police chief, and Police Lieutenant Colonel Rey Salgado, commander of the 2nd North Cotabato Mobile Force Company. (SunStar Zamboanga)
