

TWENTY-SEVEN persons who used drugs (PWUDs) are now empowered after successfully completing livelihood training under the Balay Silangan Reformation Program in Zamboanga Sibugay on Wednesday, August 6.
Of the 27 graduates, 21 received National Certificate II (NC2) in Carpentry, while six were awarded NC2 in Masonry.
Each graduate also received basic equipment and tools aligned with their respective trainings, which they can use to support their livelihood and reintegration into the community.
They were honored during a graduation ceremony held at the municipal gymnasium of Talusan, Zamboanga Sibugay, on Wednesday.
In his keynote message, Bryan Babang, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Zamboanga Peninsula director, commended the graduates for their commitment and determination in completing the reformation process.
Babang also expressed gratitude to local government units, partner agencies, and stakeholders for their unwavering support in implementing the Balay Silangan Program.
He said the graduation of the 27 PWUDs marks a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to promote drug-free communities and provide sustainable reintegration support for reformists.
The graduation ceremony was attended by officials and representatives from Talusan, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, PDEA, the Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office, and members of the Municipal and Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils. (SunStar Zamboanga)
