THREE Dawlah Islamiya-Maute Group (DI-MG) terrorists were killed, three others were captured, and a soldier was wounded following a clash in Lanao del Sur, military officials said Sunday, August 10, 2025.
Brigadier General Billy Dela Rosa, 103rd Infantry Brigade commander, said the clash happened while the troops were serving warrants of arrest against DI-MG terrorists on Saturday, August 9, in Lamin village, Lumbayanague, Lanao del Sur.
"The DI-MG members, upon sensing the presence of the troops, opened fire, triggering a firefight," Dela Rosa reported.
Three other DI-MG members were captured while several others managed to escape.
Several members of the group have a pending warrant of arrest for murder and multiple counts of homicide.
A soldier was wounded and brought to the hospital for treatment. No identity was immediately available except that he belongs to the 5th Infantry Battalion.
Dela Rosa said the troops have recovered an M16 and M4 rifles, an M79 Grenade launcher, a Rocket-Propelled Grenade, hand grenades, blasting caps, ammunition, and two flags of the Islamic State for Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Major General Yegor Rey Barroquillo Jr., 1st Infantry Brigade commander, said the troops, in coordination with the police forces, will relentlessly pursue the remaining members of DI-MG in Lanao del Sur.
"We will not allow these terrorist elements to threaten the peace and stability of Lanao del Sur," Barroquillo added, urging the DI-MG remnants to surrender and live peaceful lives together with their loved ones.
He said the troops' decisive strike significantly weakened DI-MG's operational capabilities. (SunStar Zamboanga)
