THE Philippine Army has promoted to the next higher rank four senior officers assigned to the Sulu-based 11th Infantry Division (11ID), the military said.

Promoted to the rank of colonel are Lieutenant Colonel Michael Colanta and Lieutenant Colonel Erwin Cariño.

Also promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel are Major Gilfredo Miranda and Major Nelson Libongcogon.

Major General Leonardo Peña, 11ID commander, led the donning of new rank insignia ceremony on Thursday, January 23, at Camp Teofulfo Bautista, which houses the headquarters of the division.

Peña congratulated the newly promoted officers and emphasized the importance of service, urging them to continue their commitment as disciplined soldiers.

“This promotion highlights the ongoing efforts to strengthen the leadership of the Philippine Army in addressing the evolving challenges of national security and peace-building,” Peña said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the 1103rd Infantry Brigade (1103Bde) has conducted a joint change of ceremony, marking a significant transition in key leadership roles within the Brigade’s operations, as well as its communications and command offices.

The 1103Bde said the ceremony involved a formal change of office for three key Offices: the Brigade Operations Office, the Brigade Office of C4s (Command, Control, Communications, and Computers), and the Headquarters Commandant Office.

“This change of office ceremony is part of the Brigade's ongoing commitment to maintaining effective leadership, ensuring operational readiness, and continuing to serve the community with professionalism and excellence,” the 1103Bde said in a statement.

The joint change of office ceremony was held last week at Camp Bud Datu, which houses the 1103Bde headquarters in Tagbak village, Indanan, Sulu. (SunStar Zamboanga)
