THE 45th Infantry Battalion (45IB) and 6th Special Forces Battalion (6SFBn) conducted a joint live firing interoperability training to sharpen marksmanship skills and enhance the combat readiness of their troops.
The training was held Wednesday, August 6, in the town of Ungkaya Pukan, Basilan province.
The 45IB said Thursday, August 7, that the training focused on precision shooting exercises, where troops from both units engaged in live fire drills designed to test accuracy, consistency, and weapon handling under realistic combat conditions.
The activity also aimed to synchronize standards and techniques between infantry and special forces personnel to ensure smooth coordination in future joint operations.
“By focusing on live firing marksmanship, the exercise reinforces the capability of soldiers to deliver accurate and effective firepower—an essential element in neutralizing lawless armed elements and securing communities in Basilan and neighboring areas,” the 45IB said in a statement.
The training with the 6SFBn on August 6 was the second interoperability activity conducted by the 45IB with another Army unit in Basilan.
The first was held on July 29 in partnership with troops from the 32nd Infantry Battalion (32IB), also in Ungkaya Pukan.
These activities reflect the Philippine Army’s commitment to maintaining operational readiness and underscore that marksmanship remains the backbone of every soldier’s combat effectiveness.
Such training ensures that troops are always prepared to respond decisively to any threat, the 45IB added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
