THE Army’s 53rd Infantry Battalion (53IB) has instituted changes in the leadership of its Alpha Company on Monday, May 19.
Designated as the new company commander is First Lieutenant Fernando Pantaleon, Jr., replacing Captain Luke Creighton Patacsil.
Lieutenant Colonel Rolando Vargas, Jr., 53IB commander, who led the turnover of command ceremony, awarded Military Merit Medal and Plaque of Recognition to Patacsil in honor of his leadership and dedicated service.
Patacsil on his emotional farewell address reflected on the honor of leading Alpha Company and thanking his troops for their loyalty and commitment.
Vargas commended both Patacsil and Pantaleon for their professionalism and commitment to duty, emphasizing the vital importance of continuity in military leadership.
“The Turnover of Command is not just a ceremony; it is a reaffirmation of our values as soldiers,” Vargas said.
“Captain Patacsil has led with integrity and distinction. Now, First Lieutenant Pantaleon will carry that legacy forward. This is how we sustain our readiness, strength, and unit,” Vargas added.
He reminded the Alpha Company troopers of their sacred duty to serve the people and uphold the constitution.
He said that leadership is not about authority but service, sacrifice, and the unwavering pursuit of excellence.
The turnover of command ceremony was held at Camp Major David Sabido that houses the 53IB headquarters in Poblacion village, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur. (SunStar Zamboanga)
