
THE Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Mafar-Barmm) has distributed essential fishing gear and equipment to 60 fisherfolks in Lanao del Sur.
The Mafar-Barmm said the beneficiaries were given 20 units of non-motorized banca, 20 units of freshwater fishpots, and 20 sets of freshwater gillnets.
The distribution was held at the provincial office of Mafar in Mantapoli, Marantao, Lanao del Sur on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
“The distribution fishing gear and equipment aims to enhance the livelihood of local fishers by equipping them with necessary tools to boost productivity and sustainability in fishing,” the Mafar-Barmm said in a statement on Saturday, March 29.
Chief Aquaculturist Alnizar Dimaporo, head of the Fisheries Service Division of MAFAR-Lanao del Sur, underscored the ministry’s commitment to uplifting fisher folks by providing the necessary resources to strengthen their economic standing and support the fishing industry.
The distribution of the fishing gear and equipment is part of the broader efforts of Barmm to uplift the fishing sector and promote food security in the region. (SunStar Zamboanga)
