THE Army’s 6th Infantry Division (6ID) has assured its commitment to peaceful and orderly parliamentary elections this coming October 13, 2025, in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm).
Major Donald Gumiran, 6ID commander, made the commitment through Brigadier General Patricio Ruben Amata, assistant division commander, during the Regional Joint Security Control Center (RJSCC) Meeting Wednesday, June 25.
The RJSCC meeting, held at Camp Siongco, the 6ID headquarters in Awang, Maguindanao del Norte, brought together top officials of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Philippine National Police to discuss security preparations for the first-ever parliamentary elections in Barmm.
Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia underscored the historical significance of the October elections and the need for maximum protection of Comelec personnel and facilities.
“We are ready for this democratic exercise, and we need the full support of our security sector,” Garcia said.
Amata assured the Comelec of the 6ID's full commitment to safeguarding all election workers and ensuring the integrity of the polls.
“We stand ready to provide all necessary support before, during, and after the election period. Securing democracy is our shared duty,” he said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
