THE 1st Infantry Division (1ID) assigned three junior officers to the 97th Infantry Battalion (97IB).

Second Lieutenants Jemuel Gallien, Joshua Palma, and Sistine Silhouate Balut are now part of the 97IB.

They were formally welcomed during a Pinning of Patches Ceremony on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the 97IB headquarters in Del Pilar, Piñan, Zamboanga del Norte.

Major Noelio Brigole, Jr., 97IB’s executive officer, led the ceremony. It marked the official integration of the three new officers.

“As we welcome our new officers into the fold, we are reminded of the vital role each individual plays in the success of our mission. I am confident that 2nd Lieutenant Gallen, 2nd Lieutenant Palma, and 2nd Lieutenant Balut will bring fresh strength and dedication to our ranks,” Brigole said.

“We look forward to seeing them uphold the values of discipline, courage, and commitment that define our unit,” Brigole added.

In their brief remarks, Gallen and Balut expressed their commitment to the 97IB. They vowed to fulfill their duties with integrity, regardless of their assigned roles. (SunStar Zamboanga)
