ALL is set for the PBA Legends Basketball Showdown on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the Mayor Vitaliano Agan Coliseum in Tetuan village, Zamboanga City.
The PBA Legends, headed by “The Captain” Alvin Patrimonio, will face Team Olaso led by Mayor Khymer Olaso, a boat captain.
Aside from Patrimonio, the PBA Legends team includes basketball favorites of the ’90s — “Flying A” Johnny Abarrientos, “The Tank” Noli Locsin, “The Bull” Nelson Asaytono, and “The Triggerman” Allan Caidic.
The Olaso team is composed of homegrown talents, including city councilors and village officials.
Osbert Malinao, B-Steel Sports Promotions vice president for operations, said Saturday that tickets were already sold out and “there are still basketball enthusiasts who want to witness the game.”
Malinao said the proceeds of the basketball showdown and charity game will be given to the Children in Conflict with the Law Center in Culianan village and the Women in Crisis Center in Zone 4 village.
Olaso said it will be a challenging game for his team and they did not expect to be invited to play against the PBA Legends.
However, Olaso said they are excited to play tomorrow, Sunday, and will give their best during the game, which will start at 7 p.m.
The mayor is looking forward to similar games being held in Zamboanga City, as such events help boost local tourism through sports. (SunStar Zamboanga)
