AUTHORITIES have seized around P1.7 million worth of illegal drugs as they arrested a businessman tagged as a high-value individual (HVI) in an anti-drug operation in the Bangsamoro province of Lanao del Sur, the police said Monday, August 4, 2025.
Police Brigadier General Jaysen De Guzman, Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) director, identified the arrested suspect as alias Manap, 44, a resident of Tamparan, Lanao del Sur.
De Guzman said the suspect was nabbed in a buy-bust on Saturday, August 2, in Patani village, Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.
The anti-drug operation was launched following surveillance by intelligence operatives on the suspect's involvement in the illegal drug trade.
De Guzman said the operatives seized from the suspect around 250 grams of shabu worth P1.7 million, and buy-bust money.
The suspect was detained at the Marawi City Police Station in preparation for the filing of charges against him for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
De Guzman commended the efforts of the operating units and emphasized that the Pro-Bar remains steadfast in its fight against illegal drugs. (SunStar Zamboanga)
