THE Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao (CGDSWM) has provided emergency medical evacuation (Medevac) to a crew member of a Hong Kong-registered dry bulk carrier in Zamboanga City.
The CGDSWM deployed BRP-Capones (MRRV-4404) after a distress call was received at 12:36 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, from Roselle Rafa, reporting that Lai Junxiao, a Chinese crew member of M/V Shandong Propellant, was experiencing breathing difficulties.
The bulk carrier was in the vicinity of a private wharf in Baliwasan village, Zamboanga City, when CGDSWM received the distress call.
"The crew member was safely evacuated, provided with initial medical care onboard, and transferred to a land ambulance," the CGDSWM said in a statement.
The crew was then rushed to a private hospital along R.T. Lim Boulevard, Zamboanga City, for further medical treatment.
The CGDSWM said it continues to uphold its commitment to maritime safety through prompt and professional emergency response operations. (SunStar Zamboanga)
