THE Task Force Ordinance of the Zamboanga City Government has recorded 119 apprehensions with 150 units of light electric vehicles or e-bikes impounded for violation of City Ordinance 092-0132.

Celso Lobregat, chief of staff and secretary to the mayor, said the task force made the apprehensions from July 1 to 31 as they intensified the campaign against e-bikes plying the central business district.

Lobregat said e-bikes are not allowed to ply major on thoroughfares under existing laws.

E-bikes or electric bikes refer to any two or three-wheeled mode of transportation propelled by an electric motor.

The Task Force Ordinance continues to carry out its operations to ensure the strict enforcement of the City's local ordinances for traffic and order.

The Land Transportation Office strictly enforces Administrative Order 2021-039 at the national level, which sets the regulations that govern the use, registration and associated fees for all kinds of e-bikes in the country. (SunStar Zamboanga)
