AUTHORITIES have arrested two persons who pretended to be policemen and seized a firearm in a law enforcement operation in Lanao del Norte, the police said Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
The Lanao del Norte Police Provincial Office (LDNPPO) identified the two arrested persons as alias Uno, 45, a driver from Malolos, Bulacan; and, alias Nash, 33, a security guard from Marantao, Lanao del Sur.
The police said the two were arrested on Tuesday, April 29, along Roxas Avenue, Mahayahay village, Iligan City, Lanao del Norte.
The policemen were conducting an election gun ban checkpoint when they flagged down as commuter van with two people aboard.
During the inspection, the police said Uno voluntarily opened the compartment and in plain view, a caliber .45 pistol found in the vehicle.
Uno, the driver, failed to present documents of the firearms. Nash who claimed to be a policeman, also failed to present any valid identification card or official credential to support to claim.
The police said the two were arrested and will be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and Usurpation of Authority or Officials Functions under Article 177 of the Revised Penal Code. (SunStar Zamboanga)
