LAWMEN have arrested a courier and seized over P1 million worth of illegal drugs in a law enforcement operation in Maguindanao del Norte, the police said Saturday, July 19.
Police Brigadier General Jaysen De Guzman, Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (Pro-Bar) did not identify the suspect, who was arrested on Friday, July 18, in Barangay Capiton, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.
De Guzman said the suspect was arrested after policemen launched a checkpoint operation in response to a report from a concerned citizen that a suspected drug courier is traveling from Barangay Margues to Barangay Awang via Capiton village.
He said seized from the courier were some 150 grams of suspected shabu packed in three heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets worth P1,020,000, a cellular phone, a bag,and a motorcycle with no registered plate number.
He said the arrested individual, along with the seized pieces of evidence, was brought to Datu Odin Sinsuat Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition.
He commended the policemen for their swift and decisive action, emphasizing the importance of continued vigilance in the campaign against illegal drugs. (SunStar Zamboanga)
