THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a P53 million project for road slope protection in Zamboanga del Norte which will boost road safety and resilience in the area.

The DPWH-Zamboanga Peninsula reported the project spans 110 linear meters along the Zamboanga West Coastal Road. It is specifically located at the Limpapa-Sibuco Section in Zamboanga del Norte.

The structure stabilizes embankments, prevents soil erosion, and protects the roadway from landslides and other geotechnical threats. The DPWH-Zamboanga Peninsula added that a lined canal was also built alongside the slope to improve drainage efficiency and minimizes water-related damage.

The DPWH 4th District Engineering Office in Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte, implemented the slope protection structure. (SunStar Zamboanga)
