THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), under the Peace and Development Buong Bansa Mapayaya (PDBBM) Management Program, has turned over P13.8 million housing and Cash-For-Work projects in Zamboanga Sibugay province.

The DSWD said Tuesday, April 29, 2025, that the 50 safe and environmentally friendly housing units were constructed in Batungan village, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The Modified Shelter Assistance Project (MSAP) of the DSWD and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (Opapru), are for residents of Conflict-Affected Areas (CAAs), to help them recover and start a new life.

The DSWD said the project also included the Cash-for-Work Program, which provided a wage of P351 per day for 30 days, with a total value of P526,500.

The Municipal Government of Tungawan chipped in separate counterpart for site development, equipment, and generator.

The housing and Cash-for-Work projects were turned over in a ceremony on Thursday, April 25, and was attended DSWD Undersecretary for the Peace and Development Group Alan Tanjusay, DSWD Assistant Regional Director for Operations Ma. Socorro Macaso, and Regional Program Coordinator Evelyn Lingatong.

The others who attended the event were representatives from the Regional Program Management Office, Municipal Local Government Unit, and various local agencies. (SunStar Zamboanga)
