LAWMEN have arrested a high-value individual (HVI) and seized some P1.3 million worth of illegal drugs during an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga City, the police said Friday, June 20, 2025.

Police Colonel Diomarie Albarico, chief of the Special Operations Unit-Zamboanga Peninsula (SOU-9) of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG), identified the arrested HVI as Jeffar Ahmad, 22, a resident of Tumaga village, Zamboanga City.

Albarico said Ahmad was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 7:25 p.m. Thursday, June 19, along Villalobos Street, Zone 4, Zamboanga City.

“The operatives conducted an anti-illegal drug operation which resulted in the arrest of the suspect,” Albarico said in the report.

Seized from Ahmad were approximately 200 grams of suspected shabu packed in four heat-sealed transparent plastic packs worth P1,360,000, a mobile phone, and a bundle of boodle money topped with one genuine P1,000 bill.

The suspect was detained pending the filing of charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

It was the first and largest drug haul in June for Zamboanga City and the entire Zamboanga Peninsula. (SunStar Zamboanga)
