
A KNOWN illegal drug personality was killed in a shootout during an anti-drug operation in the Bangsamoro province of Tawi-Tawi, the police said Saturday, May 31, 2025.
Police Brigadier General Romeo Macapaz, director of the Police Regional Office–Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR), identified the slain drug personality as alias Knight, of legal age.
Macapaz said Knight was killed in a shootout around 4:10 p.m. on Friday, May 30, during an anti-drug operation in Basnunuk village, Languyan, Tawi-Tawi.
He said the shootout ensued when Knight opened fire upon seeing the operatives while transacting illegal drugs in Basnunuk village.
Macapaz said Knight was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
He added that the policemen, in coordination with marine troops, launched the anti-drug operation after receiving a report about an ongoing illegal drug transaction in the area.
Operatives recovered approximately 12.5 grams of suspected shabu worth P85,000, a caliber .45 pistol with a magazine of ammunition, P75,570 in cash of various denominations believed to be proceeds from the sale of illegal drugs, and various drug paraphernalia.
The recovered pieces of evidence were turned over to the Languyan Municipal Police Station, while the remains of the slain suspect were entrusted to the village officials for proper handling. (SunStar Zamboanga)
