THE Army’s 97th Infantry “Kasaglahi” Battalion (97IB) has honored Master Sergeant Rommel Hayo in a solemn retirement ceremony on Thursday, July 31, marking the end of Hayo’s 29 years and one month of distinguished military service.
Led by Lieutenant Colonel Jimmy Sanz, 97IB commander, the ceremony recognized Hayo’s exceptional dedication, discipline, and leadership—qualities that made him a role model within the battalion.
Sanz lauded Hayo’s selfless service and acknowledged the sacrifices of his family, noting that their support was integral to his success.
“We are saddened to see a dependable soldier leave, but we are happy he now has time for his loved ones,” Sanz said.
In his remarks, Hayo expressed pride and gratitude for completing his mission as a soldier.
Hayo encouraged junior Non-Commissioned Officers to remain committed and principled in their duties, affirming his continued adherence to the values of the Philippine Army even in retirement.
He also thanked fellow officers and enlisted personnel for their support throughout his career.
The 97IB salutes Hayo for a career defined by integrity, loyalty, and exemplary service—a legacy that will continue to inspire current and future Kalasaglahi troopers.
