TEN members of the New People’s Army (NPA) voluntarily surrendered to police Thursday, November 24, 2022, in the province of South Cotabato.
Police Colonel Richard Verceles, operations chief of the Area Police Command-Western Mindanao, said they surrendered to the 1205th Mobile Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-Soccsksargen around 4:20 p.m. Thursday, November 24, in Purok 6, Maltana village, Tampakan, South Cotabato.
Verceles identified the NPA surrenderers as follows: Jun Sugal Labuayan, 39; Marcico Peles Lasib, 39; Biorny Tali Macondon, 26; Eking Dayanton Freay, 37; Rolie Balilid Suliman, 33; Sonny Manib Orong, 31; Valdwin Balawagn 25; Marcelo Kanahay Sumblingo, 49; Edmar Daliwa Mino, 30; and Melchor Malayang Balilid, 37.
Verceles said the NPA surrenderers, who belong to the Guerrilla Front 72 of the NPA’s Far-South Mindanao Region, have turned over a caliber .45 pistol, a Carbine rifle, a Shotgun, and a .9-millimeter pistol with ammunition.
He said the surrender of the 10 NPA members was a result of the comprehensive information operation in relation to the minor internal security operation Oplan Bato launched by the 1205th Mobile Company. (SunStar Zamboanga)
