THE 53rd Infantry "Matapat" Battalion has conferred medal to 11 of its troops and commended four militiamen for meritorious performance in duty.
Lieutenant Colonel Jo-Ar Herrera, 53IB commander, led the awarding of medal and certificate of recognition Monday, July 5, at Camp Major David Sabido, which houses the headquarters of the battalion in Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.
Herrera said the 11 Matapat troops received Military Merit Medal for their meritorious performance and invaluable service rendered in support to the mission accomplishment of Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) resulting in the capture of numerous weapons and war materials of the NPAs in the region.
Herrera said that Certificates of Recognition were also given to four militiamen for their invaluable service rendered and outstanding performance as member of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) Delta Company.
Meanwhile, Herrera awarded last week Certificate of Recognitions to 12 militiamen of Karbala Patrol Base in Paranglumba village, Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte.
The 12 militiamen were bestowed the recognition for their loyalty and service rendered to the Filipino people. (SunStar Zamboanga)
