162 quarantine, health protocol violators nabbed in Zamboanga City

MAYOR Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has ordered the immediate suspension of the implementation of motorcycle barriers for ridings living in one house.

Salazar issued the order after the national Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID) approved the transition protocol on motorcycle back riding effective Wednesday, August 19.

However, Salazar said that both riders should have face masks and full-face helmets that must be worn all the time while back riding, based on the IATF-EID decision.

It will be recalled that Salazar has been pushing ever since to exempt riders living in one house from the use of motorcycle barriers.

The mayor said that the City Legal Office is finalizing amendment to Executive Order 588 adapting the IATF-EID guidelines according to the local situation.

Meanwhile, City Hall reported that a total of 162 violators of quarantine guidelines and health protocols were apprehended during operations by the Zamboanga City Police Office, as of Tuesday, August 18.

It said that traveling without quarantine pass is the top violation with 88 apprehensions, followed by back riding with no installed motorcycle barrier with 38 apprehensions and not observing physical distancing and non-wearing of face mask with 18 apprehensions each. (SunStar Zamboanga)
