TWO farmers’ associations have received a total of P18.5 million worth of irrigation system projects from the National Government through the National Irrigation Administration (NIA).

The recipient groups of farmers are the Tigbao Communal Integrated Irrigators Association (TCIIA) in Licomo village and Sinoropan farmers group, also in Licomo.

Mayor John Dalipe led the turnover of the two projects to the recipient groups of farmers on Wednesday, July 26.

The TCIIA received P13.5 million worth of irrigation project that will benefit 30 farmers cultivating 105 hectares of farmland.

The irrigation system in Tigbao composes the third phase of construction of a protection dike and canal structures.

The scope of work includes construction of protection dike, canalization and canal structures.

Dalipe said the irrigation system does not only benefit the farmers as direct beneficiaries but also contributes greatly to the food and water sustainability of Zamboanga City.

The irrigation system in Sitio Sinoropan will benefit 33 farmers cultivating 105 hectares of farmlands.

Dalipe said the project in Sinoropan is considered as an essential milestone in the local government’s commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity.

The implementation of the two irrigation system projects was facilitated by the office of Second District Congressman and Majority Leader Jose Manuel Dalipe.

“These projects stand as a testament to our collective efforts in ensuring food security, empowering local farmers, and advancing rural communities," Dalipe said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
