TWO people, a housewife and her one-year-old daughter, were wounded while another was unscathed in a gun attack in Lamitan City, Basilan province, the police reported Monday, August 22, 2022.

The Basilan Police Provincial Office said the incident happened around 10:30 a.m. Monday in Parangbasak village, Lamitan City.

The police identified the victims as Sarah Bonifacio-Abing, 25, and her one-year-old daughter, Fajila, of Bohebaca village, Tipo-Tipo, Basilan.

Unscathed was Sarah’s husband, Hamud, 27, according to the police.

Investigation showed that the Abing family was seated in a roadside store when the two suspects riding tandem on a motorcycle suddenly appeared and opened fire.

The police and military said the incident was related to the existing family feud involving the Indanan family against that of the Bancuan and Paising families in Bohebaca, Tipo-Tipo.

However, both the police and military did not say as to who the Habing family is related.

The military has dispatched intelligence personnel to track down the whereabouts as well as established the identities of the suspects. (SunStar Zamboanga)
