29 drug reformists complete reformation program

TWENTY-nine drug reformists have completed their reformation program at the Balay Silangan Reformation Center in Diplahan, Zamboanga Sibugay, the PDEA reported Monday, July 18, 2022.

Dorothy Joy Villoso, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Zamboanga Sibugay supervising officer, said in a statement Monday, July 18, that the drug reformists completed their reformation program last week.

Villoso said they composed the 2nd Batch of Balay Silangan Graduates dubbed as "Salabok."

Aside from Villoso, the completion ceremony was also witnessed by officials and representatives of other agencies and agencies involved in the implementation of the reformation program.

It can be recalled that the Diplahan Balay Silangan Center produced its first batch of reformists on October 15, 2021.

The first batch consisted of 44 drug reformists.

The “Balay Silangan” is a community-based reformation program of PDEA aimed to rehabilitate surrendered drug personalities across the country.

The program builds temporary shelters to drug offenders with the objective of reforming them into self-sufficient and law-abiding members of society. (SunStar Zamboanga)
