3-year-old boy perishes in fire

A THREE-YEAR-OLD boy perished in an hour-long fire that razed eight houses made of light materials in Ipil, the capital of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Friday, May 22.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said the fire broke out around 5:45 p.m. Thursday, May 21, in Don Andres village, Ipil town.

Galvez said investigation showed the fire, the origin of which was believed to be faulty electrical wiring, started in one of the eight houses and rapidly spread.

Galvez said the houses the fire razed were owned by Faikh Aradji Hannan, Virginia Manolong, Noel Hechanova, Farrah Hechanova, Shiela May Hechanova, Jocelyn Bonlugne, Jose Ariola, and Ramon Ariola.

She said the fatality was identified as Fairan Mabol Hannan, the son of Faikh Aradji.

She said the fire investigator placed the estimated amount of property damage at P100,000. (SunStar Zamboanga)
