5 PRO-Zampen men receive medal for exemplary duty

THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula has awarded medal to five of its personnel, including an officer and a non-uniformed personnel (NUP), for exemplary performance of duty.

Police Major Shellamie Chang, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the awardees as Police Staff Sergeant Ronald Managbanag, Police Lieutenant Gerardo Tarroza, Police Corporal Rizza Mae De Castro, Police Patrolwoman Fatima Raezza Flores, and NUP Demmi Kaye Resurrecion.

Chang said Managbanag received the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting (PNP Wounded Personnel Medal) for having been wounded in a clash against motorcycle riding gunmen on April 19 in the boundary of New Carmen and New Oroquieta villages, Sominot, Zamboanga del Sur.

Four persons were arrested after the clash while an M-16 Armalite rifle, a .357 caliber revolver, a caliber .45 pistol with ammunition were seized by the police operatives.

Chang said Tarroza was awarded Medalya ng Papuri (PNP Commendation Medal) for his exemplary performance and devotion to duty during the conduct of community outreach program on April 12, in Pulo-Mabao village, Olutanga, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Some 50 food packs were distributed to indigent beneficiaries during the program.

De Castro, Flores, and Resurrecion received the Medalya ng Ungnayang Pampulisya (Police Relations Medal) for their exemplary performance and devotion to duty during the conduct of the Duterte Legacy Caravan on April 26 that benefitted some 200 residents of villages in the vicinity of Camp Colonel Romeo Abendan this city.

The 200 residents benefitted from skills training of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), distribution of food packs and health kits, provision of health service and other services from concerned stakeholders.

The caravan was participated by different government agencies and leaders of coalition advocacy groups and other force multipliers.

Police Brigadier General Franco Simborio, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula director, who led the awarding of medal, congratulated the awardees and advised to continue performing their mandated tasks. (SunStar Zamboanga)
