Badac of Zamboanga City’s 98 villages functional, effective

THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced that all Zamboanga City’s 98 villages have passed the 2018 Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Badac) functionality and effectiveness audit.

This, as Isidro Cillo, Jr., operations division chief of the DILG-city office, said that nine of the 98 villages have earned highest passing scores between 88 to 98 points.

Cillo said this was the result of the evaluation they conducted, which lasted for almost two months.

He said it is in compliance with DILG-Dangerous Drugs Board (DILG-DDB) Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2018-1 on the Implementing Guidelines on the Functionality and Effectiveness of the local Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (Adacs).

Cillo named the top nine villages and their corresponding points as the following: Labuan, 98; Curuan, 95; Rio Hondo, 95; Malagutay, 91.50; Calabasa, 90.50; Mercedes, 90; Putik, 89; Pasonanca, 88; and, Recodo, 91 points.

The rest of the villages have received the passing mark as “moderate” with scores ranging from 51 to 83 points, according to Cillo.

He said the villages of Lapakan and Guiwan scored 51.50 points and 51 points, respectively, the lowest among the 98 villages.

Recodo village may be notorious as the most drug-affected village but “its Badac is functional whose members are really working,” Cillo added. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
