THE Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Mafar-Barmm) has distributed livestock supplies to boost the livelihood of farmers in Maguindanao del Norte province.

The Mafar said on Thursday, July 27, that the recipients of the livestock supplies are the farmers in Lipawan village, Barira, Maguindanao del Norte. They received a total of 90 heads of native chicken and 70 heads of goat.

The Mafar Gender and Development (GAD) Program headed by Diana Manalasal facilitated the delivery of the livestock supplies which aimed at improving the farmers' livelihood and ensuring food security in Lipawan village, Barira.

“This initiative intends to strengthen farmers' livelihood, giving hope to many who have struggled with economic insecurity,” Manalasal said in a statement Thursday, July 27.

“Mafar strives to provide chickens and goats to Bangsamoro farmers to help them because this initiative is expected to have far-reaching effects on food security and poverty alleviation,” she added.

One of the beneficiaries said they are grateful to the Mafar for providing intervention to the farmers in Lipawan, Barira.

"We will use the chicken and goat we received in a good way to earn money and lift us out of poverty," he said.

Mafar guarantees that distributing chickens and goats to farmers is a big step toward strengthening rural community’s livelihood upheaval and promoting sustainable farming techniques, especially in rural areas. (SunStar Zamboanga)
