BJMP launches 'Abakada' program

THE Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), through the Zamboanga City Jail (ZCJ), launched the “Alay Barya Katuman sa Damgo ni Inday ug Dodong” (Abakada) program that benefited 10 households of persons deprived of liberty (PDL).

Senior Jail Officer 1 Rey Laurence Comprendio, ZCJ information officer, said the households-beneficiaries were chosen through interviews with indigent PDL's.

Comprendio said that the beneficiaries received groceries to support their families and school supplies for the children.

He said the funds used for the program were contributed by the ZCJ officers headed by Superintendent Nathanel Aljas, the jail warden.

Comprendio said the program is part of ZCJ’s best practices and “our commitment to the society.”

He said the program is aimed to help the student-learners who are direct dependents of PDLs. (SunStar Zamboanga)
