Bud Daho memorial marker, trail park rehabilitated

THE 11th Infantry Division (ID), through the 1101st Infantry Brigade, in collaboration with municipal government of Talipao, inaugurated the newly rehabilitated Battle of Bud Daho Memorial Marker and Trail Park in Sulu.

The memorial marker and trail park which was inaugurated on Sunday, August 27, is located in Bud (Mount) Daho, Talipao, Sulu.

The 11ID said in a statement Wednesday, August 30, that 215 individuals from the security forces and civilian partner stakeholders trekked Bud Daho on the day of the inauguration of the project.

The 11ID noted that the historic mountain symbolizes the resilience and resistance of the province’s forefathers against foreign forces and to remember and honor their heroism.

Tony Radjili, Talipao Tourism Officer, expressed his sincere gratitude to those who were involved in the rehabilitation of the memorial marker and train park.

“In behalf of our (Talipao) Mayor Nivocadnezar Tulawie, we are grateful for this significant milestone. It manifests our appreciation in preserving our rich culture and renowned history,” Radjilo said.

“The battle of Bud Daho is one of those which gave importance to our Tausug identity,” he added

“The battle of Bud Daho it's not just a chapter in our history, it is a testament to the resilience, bravery and unwavering commitment of our Tausug brothers and sisters to defend the province of Sulu,” Major General Ignatius Patrimonio, 11ID commander, said in a message read by Brigadier General Giovanni Franza, general officer-in-charge of 11ID.

“May this event move us forward with a renewed commitment in sustaining the peace in the province of Sulu,” Patrimonio added.

Among the highlights of the activity were the ribbon cutting of the Bud Daho Memorial Trail Marker and Wreath Laying Ceremony.

The momentous event was attended by top military and government officials and partner stakeholders. (SunStar Zamboanga)
