Business tax collection soars to P233.37M

THE Business One Stop Shop (Boss), the streamlined process for business registration and renewal implemented last January reported increased number of applicants and consequently increased tax collections.

Tax collections during the 19-day Boss operation at Centro Latino resulted to a 38 percent increase in collections which is equivalent to P64.43 million.

In 2019, tax collected reached P168.94 million while in 2020, the collection soared to P233.37 million.

In terms of number of applicants, there were 11,147 applications submitted January this year as compared to the 10,596 applied in 2019, according to Business Permits and Licensing Division chief Benjie Barredo.

Barredo said that out of the total number of applicants, 11, 108 were assessed in 2020 as against the 10,541 applications assessed in 2019.

He said that records also showed that 10,590 applicants have paid their taxes at the Boss this year.

Also based on comparative, he said there was a five percent increase in the number of applicants this year and 39 percent increase of assessed payments.

The number of permits printed also increased by 23 percent while the total taxes collected during the Boss increased by 28 percent. (SunStar Zamboanga)
