THE Dita Agro-Marine Product Association Incorporated (DAMPAI) is building an P8.4-million facility for its cassava processing and marketing enterprise project in this city.

The DAMPAI received a check of P6.7 million from the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) on Tuesday, September 19, during the visit of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who is the DA secretary.

The DA-PRDP Zamboanga Peninsula said in a statement Wednesday, September 20, the P6.7 million in check represents 60 percent of the project's total worth coming from the World Bank.

The Philippine government, through the DA, shared 20 percent and DAMPAI chipped in remaining 20 percent of the project's total cost.

The DA-PRDP said the P6.7 million fund will be spent to build a cassava warehouse with solar dryer, cassava granulator, seven-tonner forward truck and working capital of around P269,994.69.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Tuesday, signaling the start of the construction of the warehouse and processing center of cassava in Dita village.

DA-PRDP Deputy Project Director Marissa Mohammad, who attended the groundbreaking ceremony, noted that DAMPAI, the president of which is Yusop Tanjinm, has bright future since they have a marketing agreement with San Miguel Corporation that buys cassava granule products. (SunStar Zamboanga)
