THE Coast Guard Station (CGS)-Zamboanga Sibugay has unveiled its refurbished Aluminum Boat 271 and christened it “PCG Responder,” reinforcing its commitment to ensure maritime safety and effective rescue operations within its area of operations.

The refurbishment represents a substantial investment in modernizing the Philippine Coast Guard’s (PCG) equipment.

In a statement Thursday, July 20, the CGS-Zamboanga Sibugay said the refurbished aluminum boat showcases a sleek and vibrant design that reflects the PCG’s renewed dedication to its mission of safeguarding the country's coastal areas.

“This modernization effort not only enhances the boat's aesthetic appeal but also significantly improves its visibility, ensuring better visibility and recognition during operations in various weather conditions,” the CGS-Zamboanga Sibugay said in a statement.

“One of the key objectives of repainting the AB-271 is to optimize its durability and resistance against harsh maritime environments,” it said.

The CGS-Zamboanga Sibugay said the application of advanced marine-grade paint, specially formulated to withstand the corrosive effects of saltwater, will significantly extend the lifespan of the boat and enhance its overall performance in the long run.

Moreover, the repainted boat features a prominent display of CGS-Zamboanga Sibugay's logo and colors, symbolizing the PCG's authority, professionalism, and dedication to maritime safety.

“This visual representation reinforces the PCG's presence and inspires confidence among both the general public and maritime communities,” the CGS-Zamboanga Sibugay said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
