Courier firm employees lost P1.7-M in robbery hold-up

MOTORCYCLE-riding gunmen held up and robbed some P1.7 million from two personnel of a courier firm in Isabela City, Basilan province, the police reported Friday, May 12, 2023.

The Isabela City Police Station (ICPS) reported that the incident happened around 11:45 a.m. Thursday, May 11, in Sunrise village, Isabela City.

The OCPS identified the victims as Sherilyn Siladjian Ahmad, 27, finance officer of JNT Express, and Noel Larracochea Francisco, security officer of the same firm.

Investigation showed the victims were aboard a motorcycle on the way to the city proper to send money through a cash remittance center when three gunmen waylaid them.

One of the three gunmen pointed a gun at Larracochea while another suspect grabbed the plastic bag containing P1.7 million cash.

The suspects then boarded two motorcycles with no attached registered plates and sped in the south direction from the place of the incident.

The police are conducting an in-depth probe to identify and arrest the suspects behind the incident. (SunStar Zamboanga)
