A PERSONNEL of a courier firm lost some P800,000 in a robbery hold-up stage by four unidentified gunmen in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Sunday, August 20, 2023.
Police Colonel Eduard Mallo, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, identified the victim as Roderick Dela Cerna, 30, branch supervisor of J&T courier firm based in Ipil town.
Mallo said the incident happened around 11:15 a.m. Saturday, August 19, in Purok Gemelina, Sanito village, Ipil, the capital town of Zamboanga Sibugay.
Mallo said investigation showed Dela Cerna was driving his motorcycle bringing along P800,000 to be deposited at the Palawan Pawnshop when he noticed two motorcycles with two people aboard each were tailing him.
Suddenly, one of the two motorcycles overtook and blocked the victim’s motorcycle and declared the heist with a gun pointed at his head.
The suspects fled towards the town center of Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Mallo said investigation continues to establish the identities of the suspects and possibly arrest them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
