Customs-Zamboanga 1st semester collection up by P73M

A TOP official of the Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Zamboanga District Office announced that they have surpassed by P73,203,824 the target collection of taxes set for the first semester of this year.

The BOC-Zamboanga District Office covers this city and the nearby provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi where the agency has sub-offices.

Segundo Sigmundfreud Barte Jr., BOC-Zamboanga District collector, said they have collected P312,673,824 in customs duties and taxes, which is higher by P73,203,824 than the target collection of P239,470,000 for the first half of this year.

Barte said the collection is broken down as follows: January, P123,669,398; February, P59,744,581; March, P24,044,167; April, P64,838,617; May, P64,514,367; and, June, P40,701,305.

Barte said they surpassed the target collection goal since the businessmen and traders have cooperated with them by paying the right amount of taxes to the agency.

He said bulk of the collection came from the payment of taxes and duties by businessmen engaged in rice and oil trading. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
