A TOTAL of 40 bags of blood were collected during the bloodletting activities conducted by the Department of Agriculture (DA-Zamboanga Peninsula) in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).

The DA-Zamboanga Peninsula said in a statement that 25 of the 40 bags of blood were collected in a bloodletting Monday, September 21, in Zamboanga City.

The remaining 15 bags of blood were collected in a similar activity Monday, September 21, in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, it added.

The bloodletting is a quarterly initiative of DA regional office's Employees' Association.

The agency said the activity was participated by its employees and some are walk-in blood donors.

The bags of blood were directly turned over to the Philippine Red Cross in support to its call for more blood donations amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

The DA-Zamboanga Peninsula said that another bloodletting activity will be held on September 28 at its Regional Field Office in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

It encouraged the public to also donate blood to support the Red Cross and to help save lives amid the Covid-19 pandemic. (SunStar Zamboanga)
