DAPITAN City Mayor Seth Frederick Jalosjos has advised the Dapitanons, particularly those residing near landslide and flood-prone areas, to be vigilant during heavy rains.

Jalosjos issued the advice after a landslide caused by a heavy downpour occurred on the evening of Friday, July 1, in Sto. Niño village, Dapitan City.

“I would like to remind my fellow Dapitanons who reside near landslide and flood-prone areas to take the necessary precautions during heavy rains. Keep safe everyone,” Jalosjos said.

There was no casualty during the incident except that the road was closed to traffic for a few hours.

Jalosjos said that following receipt of report, a clearing operation was immediately launched by the quick response team of the city government comprising the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, City Engineer’s Office, and Taguilon Fire Sub-Station.

“The road was then immediately accessible for traffic,” Jalosjos said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
