Farmer nabbed in anti-drug sting, yields P55K ‘shabu’

A FARMER, who was a drug surrenderer, yielded some P55,000 worth of illegal drugs when arrested in a drug bust in Zamboanga del Norte province, the police said.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspect as Peter Maligro, 40.

Galvez said Maligro was arrested in a drug bust around 7 p.m. Saturday at Purok Mangga in Seres village, Katipunan town.

She said the arresting team recovered from the suspect some P55,000 worth of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) packed in four heat-sealed plastic sachets, and P400 marked money.

The police officer said the drug bust by joint team of policemen and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency was launched following surveillance on the illegal drug trade activity of the suspect.

The suspect was detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against him, she added. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
