Fire razes 30 houses; damages pegged at P1 million

AT LEAST P1 million worth of properties went up in smoke in a fire that hit a slum village in Zamboanga City, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported.

Fire Officer 3 (FO3) Francis Atilano, investigator-on-case, disclosed the fire broke out around 6:21 p.m., Saturday, at Kasalamatan Drive in Campo Islam village, this city.

Atilano said the fire originated from the abandoned house of a certain Daham and rapidly spread to nearby houses, mostly made of light materials.

Atilano said the fire, which reached third alarm, razed some 30 houses with an estimated value of P1 million.

He said the firefighters declared fire out around 7:55 p.m. and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

He said there was no reported fatality and injury during the incident. (SunStar Philippines)
