Fishing firms invited to operate in Sulu sea

SULU Governor Abdusakur Tan has invited the local fishing community to operate in the vicinity of his province.

Tan made the invitation during a meeting that followed after the inauguration on Monday of the Minsui Oil, Incorporated Depot in Talisayan, Zamboanga City.

Minsu Oil Incorporated is a petroleum refinery owned by the Sulu governor.

“You are welcome to fish in the area (of Sulu) as long as you coordinate with the local government unit and the Western Mindanao Command for safety purposes,” Tan told the officials of the local fishing corporations present during the meeting.

Also in attendance in the meeting facilitated by Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan, Jr., Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief, are the municipal mayors and other officials of Sulu.

It is well known that fishing and canning factories are among the top contributors to the economic growth of the Philippines.

This city has been dubbed as the sardine capital of the Philippines as it is the home to most of the canning firms operating in the country.

“Let us continue to strengthen our cooperation and coordination for the good of the people and our country,” Vinluan said as he conveyed his full support to this endeavor.

Vinluan has also graced the inauguration of the Minsu Oil Depot in Talisayan village, this city. (SunStar Zamboanga)
